Disaster Resilience Project

This project aims to sustainably strengthen the resilience of vulnerable communities in Madagascar, providing them with the tools and knowledge needed to anticipate, prepare for, and recover from natural and human-caused disasters.

Approximately 10,000 people in 15 villages
Project Goals
- Improve communities' capacity to manage risks and disasters.
- Establish effective early warning systems.
- Strengthen social cohesion and solidarity in the face of shocks.
- Promote the adoption of risk adaptation and mitigation practices.
Key Activities
- Participatory development of Community Contingency Plans.
- Training of local risk and disaster management committees (DRG).
- Organization of simulation exercises and awareness campaigns.
- Support for the rehabilitation of resilient community infrastructure.
Expected Results
By 2026, communities will be better prepared to face climate hazards. Contingency Plans will be operational, and a reduction in the impact of disasters on lives and livelihoods is expected through improved local response and recovery capacities.
