Who are we?

HARONA is a non-profit local NGO that builds the capacity of vulnerable communities across the country. We work for sustainable development and greater resilience in the face of climate and social challenges. We design and implement community projects tailored to essential needs, in close collaboration with local stakeholders. We believe that true change comes from empowering people and valuing their expertise.

Our Mission

To support local development dynamics through participatory, inclusive, and innovative approaches, by strengthening the capacity of communities to sustainably manage their resources, improve their well-being, and adapt to climate and social challenges.

Our Vision

To build resilient, equitable, and sustainable communities, capable of facing crises and developing autonomously, in harmony with their environment.

Our Strategic Objectives

1. Strengthen Community Resilience

In a context of increasing vulnerability, our NGO is committed to sustainably strengthening community resilience to natural and human-made hazards. We promote the development of community risk management plans, the implementation of mitigation measures, and the reinforcement of prevention mechanisms.

2. Improve Access to Essential Services

We aim to improve access to clean water, sanitation, nutrition, education, and community health. We support local structures by integrating innovative solutions and promoting behavioral changes for sustainable services.

3. Promote Sustainable and Climate-Smart Agriculture

We support the adoption of resilient and environmentally friendly agricultural practices. We guide producers in conservation agriculture, agroforestry, and crop diversification, while developing local agricultural value chains for better economic value.

4. Encourage Inclusive Local Governance

We believe in transparent and participatory governance systems. We support representative community structures, implement social accountability mechanisms (participatory budgets, dialogue platforms), and strengthen trust between institutions and citizens.

5. Support Territorial Planning with Geospatial Tools

For rational resource management, we use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and satellite data. These tools help us support territorial planning, identify at-risk areas, and guide local decisions for adapted territorial policies.

6. Mobilize Youth and Women as Key Actors

We place youth and women at the heart of social and economic transformations. We strengthen their capacities, leadership, and inclusion in decision-making spaces. Through training and entrepreneurial initiatives, we support their empowerment to become agents of lasting change.

7. Promote Renewable Energy

We work to facilitate access to sustainable, clean, and affordable energy solutions for vulnerable and isolated communities. This approach contributes to improving their living conditions, protecting the environment, and combating climate change.
